Reconnecting with What Matters

A Morning That Made Space for What Matters

Last month, I stepped out of my usual Saturday routine and into a space I didn’t realise I needed so much—the Mastermind for Ambitious Women, hosted by Monica Haughey at the beautiful United Arts Club in Dublin 2.

It was one of those bright spring mornings when the city feels full of possibility, and that sense carried into the room as Monica—The Conscious Coach—led us through a series of powerful reflective exercises. Drawing on her 30 years in psychotherapy and the teachings of Eckhart Tolle, Joe Dispenza, and others, Monica helped us slow down and reconnect with what truly matters: our values, our purpose, and our authenticity.

The Book I’m Supposed to Be Writing…

For me, this time-out felt especially necessary. I’ve been working on my first book—something I believe will hold real value for anyone considering entrepreneurship or navigating that path. But, over the last while, I’d stalled. More truthfully, I’d stopped.

Life and business got busy, as they do. I hadn’t given the book the space or attention it needed. What I realised during the workshop is this: when a project slows down, it’s not always about lacking motivation or passion. Sometimes, it’s about disconnection. Disconnection from why you started. From your voice. From the quiet space where creativity lives. Distractions keep you busy—but not fulfilled.

I’ll admit it: I’m someone who thrives on ticking boxes and getting quick wins. But writing? It doesn’t work that way. It takes time. It needs space. It requires presence. And that’s time I need to consciously choose to invest—daily—if I want this idea to become a book.

Small Shifts Create Big Momentum

One of the practical takeaways from another attendee was the reminder of Mel Robbins’ 5-4-3-2-1 technique—a simple but powerful tool for cutting through procrastination. That countdown helps shift you from hesitation into action.

No more waiting for the mood to strike or the perfect burst of inspiration. Just begin. And once I started applying it—just ten minutes a day—words started flowing again. Small steps, but real momentum.

“Live Your Life as the Honey”

Monica shared a phrase that landed deeply:
“Be the Honey.”

Rather than chasing what we desire, we become it. When we show up as our most authentic selves—aligned, clear, and conscious—we naturally attract the right people, opportunities, and experiences.

It’s not about doing more. It’s about being more present. It’s not about hustling harder. It’s about reconnecting more deeply.

Why It Matters

I left the workshop feeling grounded, re-energised, and recommitted to what matters most. Like finishing this book. Like supporting others who are standing at the edge of something new—an idea, a pivot, a bold beginning.

If you’re at a crossroads, or simply feeling the quiet pull to pause and realign, I can’t recommend Monica’s work enough. You’ll find her at monicahaughey.ie.

Sometimes, all it takes is a morning. A pause. A space to listen inward—and remember who you are and what you’re here to create.
